Background

The United Nations projected that the human population will reach 9.2 billion by 2050. The increasing human population need more food, including animal-source food. The demand for food should be followed by food safety, and food production should consider the welfare of the animals and create an enabling environment for sustainable food production. On the other side, our environment is entering the Anthropocene epoch: the geological age characterized by human influence on the planet. As a result, resources available for human activities are becoming limited and unevenly distributed.

Scientists from several countries have made several efforts to anticipate the millennium challenges and improve the animal production systems. To gather information on recent advances of the efforts and in an attempt to disseminate the results, The 1^st International Conference on Sustainable Animal Resources and Environment (ICARE) is organized by the Faculty of Animal Science, IPB University. This conference is a forum for those involved in the field of animal production, nutrition and feed technology, animal product processing and animal environment. The theme of the seminar is “Contribution of Animal Sciences toward Sustainable Development Goals”. The detailed sub-themes of the conference include: (i) Animal Management and Production (ii) Animal Feed and Nutrition (iii) Animal Breeding and Genetics (iv) Animal Product Technology (v) Animal Welfare and Health (vi) Animal Logistics, and (vii) Animal Environment. It is an excellent opportunity for animal scientists and industrial communities to take advantage of this event by sharing knowledge and experience in this prestigious ICARE 2021.

1. Presenting the development of science and technology innovations in sustainable animal resource and environment
2. Disseminating the results of animal research on livestock production improvement
3. Contributing to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Expected Outputs

1. Selected papers are potentially published in an international journal (Tropical Animal Science Journal (TASJ)) : Q2
2. Selected papers are potentially published in national journals: Jurnal Ilmu Produksi dan Teknologi Hasil Peternakan (JIPTHP: SINTA 3) and Jurnal Ilmu Nutrisi dan Teknologi Pakan (JINTP: SINTA 3)
3. ISBN Proceeding
4. Policy brief to advice the government and non-government institutions on empowering local resources for sustainable animal production
5. Improved international linkages in research collaboration for solving animal production problems
